Fond memories of Dolores and me are still fresh in my mind: the two of us giggling like silly school girls on her tour bus (think “dopamine high”); our window shopping at the Home Depot, which resulted in Dolores buying a classy, cherrywood kitchen cabinet set; my winning a $20.00 bet from the Maryland state trooper that had pulled Dolores over for speeding, while she was driving my car; playing miniature golf, then indulging on hot fudge sundaes; my singing to her on my front lawn to cheer her up, because my life’s circumstances upset her….

Although some people are impressed that my friendship with Dolores inspired her to write a few songs—it was those songs that ultimately inspired me to hold on to hope and keep going.

“… have some faith …” “… stay safe …” “… [get a grip] ….”

For me, “Lunatic” was a lullaby.  Listening to Dolores singing that song felt like a soft and warm blanket
that brought me comfort on many a night.  Someone understood … and was reaching out to me.

I am grateful for Dolores’s friendship and am thankful for the gift of her supportive embrace.  I will
mourn her untimely demise, until I see her again—wherever and whenever that may be.

      ♪“I'll remember always-always
You were so much fun!”♫

People like Dolores O’Riordan are the reason why I did what I’ve done, and will do what I’ll do.
